Service cost
I have a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 Active which is coming up to it's first service (12mths), I understand that Fiat dealers operate a fixed price system for this and as I want to keep the Warranty ongoing I have to have the regular servicing done as per the "book"...
I have been quoted 199 for this service and wondered if anyone could confirm or otherwise that this is correct......to my mind it seems a lot of brass for what is 2 hours work and basically just an oil and filter change.....
Any comments please?

Although it is illegal for them to insist that the service is done at a fiat dealership to maintain the warranty. As long as the service is to at least the same quality and the parts are of similar quality also - they can not insist that fiat do the service (I was working in the motor trade when this came about and is certainly true for fords and I can not see fiats being any different)
Some people will prefer to see the dealership stamp in the book - but it is up to you.

Thanks a lot guys...I feel better now that I am not particularly being over charged.....if that's the price then ok I'll pay it...thanks again............commoner.
I have had a few things done on the warranty already......new steering rack and front suspension mountings to mention but two....I was getting a lot of rattling noise on rough roads but that has now been cured; so guess I owe the dealership something for their trouble <G>

Sorry to add to your problems but if you have had the problems you mentioned with a 12 month old car I would suggest you have it checked out by an independent mechanic. The faults you have had rectified should not arise within the first year of a cars life. Get it sorted before the warranty expires.
