petrol smell

i have a vauxhall astra 1.8 57 plate wen we get in the car there is a strong smell of petrol any ideas x

Has the car just been serviced? check in-line filter, have you bottomed the car causing you to catch the underside & fuel lines, have you overfilled the tank? Is the petrol cap vent clear? other than that your tank could be leaking or the filler funnel loose.
