not really, as some misceivous person may have removed it without your knowledge, simply to create the confusion you are now enduring.
Well I would tell them to stuff it
get them to prove it!

might b a fakey one!!
there must be the arrangment in place for visitors to the private residential block, and also on the fine there should be the right to appeal, I would do that and tell them who you were visiting, is there not a lodge at the place where you would have been able to gain access to the car park?
I agree with whitebears........ask them for proof.
Indeed ask for proof but do not ignore the letter. If the parking is enforced by a private company there is no legislation that allows for a right of appeal.

Correct about the word "fine", but I would guess that the OP has used "fine" where the letter will say "charge".
that's a good point doc, how are they able to get hold of anyone's address just from the car reg?
Dot, DVLA sell those details for £3.
well dot.....they may have bought it from the DVLA
Wtf happened to the Data Protection Act??
Ok so pixiebelle was there on legitimate visiting and the residents are not aware that their landlord is spying on them and then making mega money charging their visitors? Sounds a right scam to me. Would they also charge a doctor or a nurse for a home visit to one of their residents? Why would they pay the DVLA to find out who every car belongs to because they will know there are some charges they would be wasting their time persueing. Pixiebelle give me the phone number off that letter and I''ll ring them up and ask them how they decide who they charge and who they don't.
Dot, residents will be well aware of the restrictions and are possibly given a certain number of parking permits. These parking schemes usually operate at the residents behest because there are not enough parking spaces for residents, visitors and drinkers in the pub next door, or whatever.
