my son has recently sold a vehicle via gumtree, the buyer signed the bottom of the log book as the new keeper but has'nt filled his name and address in, my son deleted the buyers number from his mobile and does'nt know his address should he send the log book to the dvla with a covering letter explaining what has happend or wait until the man that brought it gets back in touch to find out where the log book is?

Ringing the DVLA would be a good starting point, I think
Define 'recenly'. I fear they may never call and your son
will
still be responsible for any parking fines etc. I would call the DVLA on Tuesday.
If there is a dvla office nearby, my experience is that it's best to go in person and explain. You can find the locations by clicking the link.

I had that with a car I sold, when I got tax renewal form I just wrote to them telling them I had sold it,I told them I had sent my papers in but he couldnt have done.I told them I couldnt remember his name and address,I never heard anything else about it and that was about 8 years ago.Son in law who is a motor trader has this all the time,he gets penalty points notices, congestion charge notices etc.he writes back to the relevant authority and doesnt hear anything else about them.
