I will soon be in the market for a new car but I need one with a level floor in the boot space (no lip on the boot) as I find it difficult to lift things such as heavy shopping etc.
over it, I know that the ford fusion has this but can anybody help me with any other makes, it would need to be in the small to medium size range with 5 doors, at the moment I have a Honda Jazz so would like something on a par with that, any recommendations?

the citroen c-crosser, and its copies (peugeot 4007 and mitsubushi outlander) have a fold down flap to make the boot level i think
Peugeot 3007 would be a good choice. Boot opens something similar to yank stationwagons

Thank you both for your answers, I am now on the case and trying to arrange test drives for your suggestions.
Try visiting various car showrooms as you will find that it's not always the lip height that's the issue. For example, some medium sized mpv's have little or no lip yet have a very high deck floor. Equally, some hatchbacks may have a lip, but this might not necessarily be too high for you to easily lift something over. Also, you will find that some hatchbacks have a wider opening at the base, others are more restricted due to the rear light position.
I had a courtesy car that opened like that, half up, half down.. but found I couldn't stand near enough to the boot with the bottom half open.

make sure you try it for yourself.
