I have a Chevrolet Spark which I drive to work and back each day, only 2 wheel drive mind you - the standard wheels look pretty cr4p, although I got some nice wheels (alloys) put on straight away, and it's great for that kind of weather - pencil thin wheels, glides through snow and ice........
Hope this helps.

Purple, believe it or not, any car in winter is as good as the person's right foot, the way you brake / steer, the car I have gets called for winter driving I have had the car 4 years & never had no bother, with winter coming always be prepared for the worse, Shovel, salt, flask, Mobile that is charged & most important a couple of blankets, You may think I'm joking! I was in many hold up in snow & seeing people cold in their cars, a bit of thought goes a long way.
My KA was good in the snow and ice too.. I just got my tax renewal letter today and it's going to cost £130 for a year which is not bad at all. As for insurance I don't think I could give you an accurate description as ive only been driving for a year and half and am under 21. It was £1100 the first time and this year it halfed :) x
