Keeping up with the traffic on motorways....
We've all seen them, doing 45 in the left hand lane forcing all the trucks and coaches to overtake them. Far more dangerous than speeding, is it time to enforce a minimum speed of 60mph on motorway traffic so that they do not impeede the trucks etc.

Yep middle lane cruiser are annoying but the really dangerous people are the impatient idiots who then decide to overtake them on the inside.
They're in their blindspots and all it takes is for them to suddenly realise they should be in the inside lane and Bang!
I do hope you're not one of those d9!

Blimey, if anyone thinks that a truck overtaking is dangerous, they shouldn't be driving. How much warning, and how much time, do you need? The bloke in a hurry who decides he's got the acceleration to do it and shoots out into a tiny gap, leaving everyone to brake to accomodate him, is dangerous, but a truck or coach overtaking isn't.
i agree about people in the middle lane almost always being vilified.
i am not going to weave in and out of lanes just because some idiot thinks me going the speed limit in the middle is still not fast enough and gets impatient.
if they want to weave in and out of lanes to overtake me, then let them.

No one has ever been able to explain the hysteria surrounding this question. Ok scenario 1) the road is busy - better to stay in the middle than weave in and out of the trucks. scenario 2) the road is empty, Safest in the middle to avoid unnecessary lane changes, outside lane available for those that need to go faster. Faster traffic on the inside lane?? no problem pass on the left do not change speed or direction allowed under the highway code! Overtaking involves a manouvre, simple passing does not.
simples!
Logically there is no reason to play leap frog down the highway But many motangelists are brainwashed, almost relgion like, hence many avoidable acccidents on our roads.

d9, now we're down to left hand drive trucks being dangerous. Well, lhd or rhd, they don't exactly shoot out to overtake do they? You have plenty of time to press on , or hang back, and avoid even the speediest, bliond spotted, enthusiastic, must stubborn, truck driver.
We seem to have wandered away from the OP, which was about slow driving, to overtaking. All vehicles, but trucks least of all, because of their comparative slowness, are potentially dangerous when they pull out to overtake. And the most dangerous are those which pull out quickly, in ignorance of, or oblivious to, the traffic which is close outside them.

I've seen examples of where a car will over take a truck travelling in the left hand lane only to slow down and then the truck driver either has to slow down from his enforced 56mph or pull out into the middle lane to overtake said car, what are these drivers thinking about.....???
Try driving in the Middle East for a period of time then come back to the UK, you will realise that the standard of driving in this country is very high indeed, and i hope someone can verify this with me...
