Keeping up with the traffic on motorways....
We've all seen them, doing 45 in the left hand lane forcing all the trucks and coaches to overtake them. Far more dangerous than speeding, is it time to enforce a minimum speed of 60mph on motorway traffic so that they do not impeede the trucks etc.

HEIGHT, what we could see & what the motorist could see was a hell of a difference, at that time I was driving a Scania with a forward vision on Miles depending on the private car, the HGVs was in vision if a Bump occurred 2>>3 miles ahead but the car driver ( With some, the end of his / her bonnet that's how a lot drive, another example, a slip road coming off a Motorway normally has a slip road coming onto a motorway, If a driver was aware of this HE / SHE/ would not get "trapped" causing them to ease up causing braking behind them, drivers if they forward planned such as what I have just stated accidents would not happen, a lot of these bumps are caused by people that have either just passed their test, have never used a motorway before, or have not got a bloody clue what to do. You are right in what you say regards the 45mph f only persons realised the implications that they cause by doing this, they would think differently.
Do I take it from your reply to Malagbob (Perhaps) you are one of thousands that has a magnet beneath your car? the one that sticks to Tarmac & cannot get out of the Overtaking lane? there are reasons for lane changing as you know, but the reason for the majority of lane changing is due to the fact, some knob does not know how to use the safest roads in the Country! " MOTORWAYS" The Motorway is not the cause of accidents, it's the clowns that do not know how to use them is the problem ( Are you one of them?
I hardly ever change lane or cause someone else to, if they overtake me they are going over 85, there is a lane for them that's fine. Contrast that with the leap froggers I'd say that there are millions of unncecessary lane changes every day, as we know nost accidents on the motorway are caused by lane changing. Simples!
so... in order to help some other speeding driver not to have to change lanes... i must pointlessly change lanes lots of times to let them speed past me, exceeding the speed limit?... because apparently the speed limit is too slow for them...?
i must constantly perform a potentially dangerous manouvre to save them from having to do the same manouvre?
if its so bad for them to have to change lanes - then why is it ok for me to?
if they are impatient and wish to go faster than the permitted speed then they can do it without my help.
if they want to weave in and out of lanes then let them, but i will not be forced to.
doing 70 in the middle lane is not 'hogging' it, it is 'using' it, which is what its for.
i often see impatient idiots desperately trying to get past people who are driving at the speed limit - on normal roads - everyday, but it has no actual affect on their speed, or helps them get where they are going any faster... they are just one car ahead - waste of time - and potentially dangerous
its time people stopped pointlessly doing this... as has been pointed out - many accidents are caused when a driver is doing a manouvre ... if they just patiently carried on going straight, many accidents would never happen.

I don't find it a hardship and I don't get irate. It's because i am confident and competent that i pass middle lane obstacles with ease and return to the inside lane. It's precisely because it is so easy that it puzzles me as to why a minority find it so hard to do. As i said, a couple of motorway lessons could be of use.
