Inconsiderate Parking

We had 'permit holders only' parking foisted upon as a few years ago and it's first come first served when the restrictions end (at 3.30pm).

Is there ANY comeback for the inconsiderate ****s who take up two spaces with their one car? It does my head in, the spaces are so limited.

So far I've stopped at polite (usually) notes on windscreens.

I would not know but I doubt it aside from having a nice word, or writing your request in lipstick on the windscreen where they can see it.

You have my sympathy. Authorities who enforce permit holder only parking, thus ensuring the vital process where folk can find somewhere to stop at their destination, fails, will, I suspect, be first against the wall come the revolution.

^^^^jno, a mate and I did that once to a bloke that regularly drove when absolutely legless. When he saw us in the pub the next evening, he argued: "what if I had been a doctor, and needed in an emergency"?

It's not always possible to tell which car was the first to park badly though.

I've tried that OG, not sure if it works really, I try not to make my messages snotty/stroppy as I imagine this will probably just have the reverse effect.
Don't even get me started on my notion that the permit holders/fining thing is all just a covert revenue-collecting exercise.

Chipchopper, I know what you mean but sometimes it's obvious.
Take today for example: squared off space, room easily for two cars, one car bang smack in the middle, half a car's worth of space fore and aft!

How are the parking spaces arranged??
Do they run in a line, so that all the cars park nose to tail, or do they run so that all the cars park side by side??
If they run side by side, can you not park your car so you're right up to their driver's door, so they can't get in (make sure your passenger side is next to their driver's side, so as not to obstruct your entry/exit), so they'll have to get into their car by climbing in through the passenger side.

Do you know if they are parking like that to "reserve" a space for a family member (say) arriving later? Not that it excuses their actions...but it may explain them.

Ask your council to draw parking bays...... probably a waste of breath, we have the same issue in our road which is permit holders only until 5pm.

Do you have to pay, AP? We have to pay £50 per car per year for the privilege of parking in our "zone".

Park behind them, covering the two spaces.

I know that's what id do, rightly or wrong.I can't abide selfish people.

If challenged, i'd say I was utilising 'my space' which i'd paid for.

Going through the channels takes way too long.Direct action straight to the source usually works.

Ohhh yes of course, I think it's £60 a year or a hefty fine for those (like me) who've opted out and forgotten about the car when the tax-collecting hours kick in.
It's especially irritating for residents (like me) who had enjoyed normal free parking for many years up 'til recently when they suddenly realized they could parisitise some additional revenue off us.

Yep, been there. I've popped off in the car literally for FIVE minutes and returned to find that someone's jumped in my 'grave'.

In some areas of Brighton & Hove you have to go on a waiting list to even get a permit at a cost of £120.

Anyone taking the law into their own hands (as in the first answer) should expect a heavy penalty for criminal damage.

Whilst it is frustrating (It happens where I live), the best thing to do is to talk to the people concerned.

Damaging the property of others is childish and likely to result in retaliation.
