I park as far away from the store as possible. It's usually empty. I really don't understand why people feel the need to park as close to the doors as they can.

The whole car park (Tesco/Morrisons) have loads of trolley bays.
I park well away from the store and walk that bit further. If you take the car reg of the neighbouring cars there is no proof whatsoever that they have 'dinked' your car with their car door unless there are cameras about.

My little car us absolutely battered on the back half from kids opening their doors into it - I don't actually care enough to report it or investigate as it's a jalopy anyway, but if I had a brand new car that cost a fortune, then maybe I'd be more bothered
Having been blocked in by an inconsiderate parker, I now always park on an end bay.
It depends. If the car park is very empty and I am in a hurry I will straddle, or at leat not be so careful about being in my box. At all other times I park carefully and well away from everyone else. Better still I order online for delivery!
No, having the numbers means nothing anyway. My car has been hit few times usually a bumper scrape so I tend to park in the bit that's far away and empty. My car does stick out a bit though. Also in most of the supermarkets they say you'll be ticketed if you don't park in marked bays. I know it's a mickey mouse ticket but It's still hassle you don't need! Anyway I went on the bike this morning so I can park right at the front!
Nope, if the parking bays are a bit small I'll park somewhere else. A few extra yards walked is not a problem for me.
I've a blue disability badge,so I have the advantage of usually being able to park both near the entrance to the store and in exta wide bays.

Why on earth would I do that?
It sounds as dull as bus spotting.
I'm more efficient than most shoppers so the same cars are still there when I leave as when I arrived.
I'm unsure I'd have the ability to track down the owner of the car that was next to mine and who may not have been responsible for damage anyway and insist on looking at their car to see if there is any evidence. It all sounds a bit far-fetched to me. If the store CCTV doesn't show anything, and one would only ask for major damage anyway, what's the point ? Less stressful to swear like a trooper and just get it fixed. And maybe hope karma is a real thing.

No, I try not to straddle any lines even if it means getting back in and adjusting the position. I've accidentally been on one once or twice but usually because the car next to me is too far over anyway. There should be a legal minimum width for such bays.
Taking the car reg of the neighbouring car is pointless. Two or more cars may have parked in that space whilst you've been shopping - you have no idea who is responsible for dinging your car.
I also park a long long way away from the store as near as possible to a trolley park. It's usually so empty I can pick a space with 2 free either side.
Besides I like to strut through car park with my trolley.
I always try to park in an end bay- at least one side of your car should be safe, that is until the inconsiderate clowns come along and park on the chevrons. Supermarket parking bays have always been too narrow until Aldi came and provided wider ones.

Wearing tight denim shorts, Prudie?
yep, I'm sooo moneysupermarket
parking my bentley mulsanne close to the supermarket entrance may be construed as attention seeking so i go on the bus

So, you've taken the car number, when you come back there's a dent in your car and the car who's number you've taken has gone,

Now what do you do?
There's a fab page on Facebook with photos, called You Park Like a C***
;)
