I think that one point is being missed and that is if damage has been caused it has been done by a hit and run driver. Supermarket and garage forecourts are no different to public roads for the purposes of the Road Traffic Act, and should be reported to the police. Taking numbers is a good idea as any information is of assistance to the police and insurance companies.
Only if the damage is severe enough for a claim to be worthwhile, and the police / insurance are willing to investigate someone/some vehicle who may not be involved anyway. I may be wrong but I suspect it is only a "feel good" factor involved here.

Don't think the Police would be that bothered about a Car Park Dent, they don't normally get involved with a RTC either unless there is Injury caused

What really annoys me is that parent and child places are nearest to the entrance of shops!
At our tescos they have just moved them away from the door

It keeps the toddlers away from the "boy racers" who totally ignore the speed limits in such places.
How do you park a broom?
Any car I see that straddles the lines in a car park get their picture taken and posted on Twitter @YPLAC, which stands for You Park Like A ***
The idiots who straddle two places should be barred from using the supermarket. Usually Chelsea Tractors that never leave the road.
why? If there are plenty of other spaces then what is it to you?

Problems with inconsiderate parking and damage in supermarkets will be endless because some motorists have little or no regard for other peoples property. Supermarkets should widen the bays.

Supermarket car parks must be the most common places for small but expensive dings in your bodywork.

When I park in Tesco, or any other supermarket, I always park as far away from everybody else as I can. I just don't trust peoples ability to park, or to push a shopping trolley.
And I hate the selfish tw6ts that use up the disabled parking places, without displaying a badge.
Woofgang, you asked why I said what I did. Here is my answer. Parking across two parking bays shows a lack of regard and respect for other people. I have lost count of the times I have been able to park somewhere because of inconsiderate parking. It has everything to do with me when it happens. I too find the spaces narrow, but I still park withing them as that is the way it is. They may be plenty of spaces left when you do so, but situations change. If everyone did it, it would be mayhem.
