My brother lives in Argentina, and he came over to stay with us. While he was here he used my car a couple of times, even though he wasnt insured to do so. On one occasion, he must have got flashed speeding cos I got the ticket after he had gone home.

Is there anything I can do about this? I already have 6 points, so REALLY don't want to take it to 9. Especially as I was really not driving the car. But I what will happen with him not having insurance?

Thank you

Hi all, As someone outside the UK just now I can't see what all the discussion is about which driver etc... as it seems to boil down to - "is there any way for everybody to get out of a speeding offence".
Surely the speed camera doesn't show who is driving so then anybody/everybody could just say ''wasn't me was somebody else'' . Is the UK legal system really so stupid these days that you can get away with that kind of rubbish statement.?
Hi Kop442000, I do have to agree with some of the comments, that, when you post a question here you can't expect only ''good'' answers when you are admitting publicy that you commited an offence.

What is this offence that people keep telling me I have committed? I am the innocent party. And I am not trying to get out of the ticket, cos it isn't mine. Just want the right person to take the points without getting him in lots of trouble.

Well I am confused. I had a friend over from the US who drove my car for a week. He received two camera tickets for speeding - fixed penalty tickets. I wrote and provided all the contact information for the US driver. They wrote back asking for flight details of when he was leaving / arriving in the country. I provided all information. They then send me a letter explaining that they called my insurance company and he was not listed as a driver and now want me to basically lie and change the name of the driver I already submitted or provide copy of insurance showing he is insured. The letter threatened me with a substantial fine and 6 - 8 point for letting an insured driver (was not on my car policy) drive my car.
So if he has US car insurance and is covered to drive other cars... then this should be fine. I hope.
But what I can't believe is that they want me to change the name of the driver and are threatening me with points and fines for two speeding tickets (40mph in a 30 mph.)
I will not lie and I can't believe they are asking me to change the name of the driver I submitted!!

Does anyone have any other insight as what to do... I am being honest but the police seem to want to make this into a bigger deal with court threats etc... and I just don't understand why.
