is it true that if youre over 80 and have lived in australia for last 3 yrs you cannot drive in uk if you return permanently?

I would say that if you hold a uk driving licence resit the test and can read the car number plate at the appropiate distance I see no problem at all except one thing who in their right minds would want to drive at 80 years of age

If you still have a current UK license you can drive legally with that, it does not matter how old you are, you would have to be tested by a doctor every 3 years for suitability though.

bob57 seems to be bigotted against old people as he has no confidence that he will still be able to drive when he gets a few years older!

sorry toureman if I offended you it's not that I'm a bigot or any thing like that it's just that in my job I see alot of idiotic things done on the roads that at a certain in ones life I think it might be safer for them to stay off the road.

Here is one example:

An old man I knew had multiple sclerosis drove out of our housing estate done a right hand turn mounted the kerb luckily no one was on the pavement at the time and then proceded to drive to where ever he was going I don't what happened next as I went the other way.

also when I get old and unfit to drive the last the I want to be is a hazard to other road users
