I have checked the relevant fuses, but the mainbeam does not work?

Is there a relay that could be malfunctioning or could there be another reason the lights do not work

Probably no relay for the main beam.

Possible reasons for main beam not working are bulbs blown, fuse blown, bad earths at lights, light switch broken, ignition switch broken.

check if a live is reaching the lights first with a multimeter. Then follow the circuit back to the battery to find where the problem is.
