Am just about to go self employed as a decorator has any one got any suggestions for the right type of van I would be better of getting,please. Many thanks

I was a self emplyed courier and had a new shape Vauxhall Astra. Lovely vans but tricky when loading with a forklift as the back door opens upwards and was hard to get close to. My neighbour is a painter and decorator and uses a good ol' Transit. Can't really fault them and they have a side doors which make it easier to get things out from the middle of the van.

It really depends how you want to use it and how much stuff you want to put in it.

out of all vans i've driven i cant fault the newer transit turbo diesel. they are quick enough easy to drive, reliable and its a ford so parts are no problem

It's got to be a white one! Personally I use trailers as it saves the standing costs of another vehicle but it's not always convenient for town work.

Hi, if you only want something small the a suzuki supercarry should do the job. There is loads of room inside has two side doors for easy access, and as it's quite long my neighbour (who's a satellite and aerial fitter) puts double and sometimes triple ladders on a roof rack. They are around �5999 + v.a.t. brand new but I know that they have now stopped producing them but you may find a dealer with one. Alternatively have a look on Ebay or local ad trader. Hope this helps.

depends on what your carrying (size of ladders, plaster board, doors etc). But what ever you get, do get it fully ply lined. Its worth doing.

i always wanted one so i could p**s the neighbours off with the naff tune.

PLUS, if the decorators got no work, you could always do a bit of sunday market stuff in the summer... :-)
