Renault Clio gear box

A chap I know told me he paid two thousand pounds to get a Reault Clio 2000 automatic gear box replaced. I would have though that Renault dealers have a cheaper fixed charge for this work and he could have asked that it be done under that price. Or am I being unreasonable and that is the kind of price you would pay ?

i know someone who's just had his diesel engine replaced on his newish laguna, cost �7000 from renault but was replaced under warrenty, then after it was fitted they realised he had gone over the millage so they were seven grand down ha ha
