driving without MOT?

is this true: i heard that if your car MOT has run out you can still use your car and still be protected and not committing an offence as long as the cars MOT is renewed within a few days of it running out?? is this true? i heard you have 7 or 14 days to renew your MOT if it has run out and still be ok to drive your car in rthis period.

This is no longer the case. If you do not tax your vehicle promptly, DVLA will send you a �80 fine in the post for starters. If stopped by the police, you would most likely get a �60 fixed penalty for 'not displaying' a valid tax disc. A report would also be sent to DVLA, who can issue a court summons where you can face a large fine for driving/using/keeping an untaxed vehicle on the road.
