Saw one today in a long traffic queue. Ok heads up bikers, Geezer ranting time.

You are a bike you do not wait in traffic, sad people in slow moving steel boxes wait in traffic. They have protection from the elements and safety, the price they pay for that is traffic queues. We are vulnerable and exposed, our reward is that we have been given superior road skill to filter past the SMSB's and avoid them doing stupid things. Capiesch?

So bikers you know who you are, you do not wait in traffic, otherwise you may as well get a car. That applies to even those among you who have seen fit not to get an R1 and also scooters, even the gay ones ok?

Filtering and undertaking are exactly the times when car drivers will not see you because it is not how they expect traffic to behave. You may be perfectly in the right and the fault the car drivers, but in terms of self preservation, filtering and undertaking should only be attempted with great caution.

For Geezer

Vehicle Registration Document. Registration documents are issued for all motor vehicles used on the road, describing them (make, model, etc.) and giving details of the registered keeper. You MUST notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in Swansea as soon as possible when you buy or sell a vehicle, or if you change your name or address. For registration documents issued after 27 March 1997 the buyer and seller are responsible for completing the registration documents.
The seller is responsible for forwarding them to DVLA. The procedures are explained on the back of the registration documents.
Law RV(R&L)R regs 10, 12 & 13

R1 , my mate bought his honda 600 new 5years ago and he had to show his licence . they said that it was the law and he must show it.

:::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

ps the honda went to the scrapyard thanks to a car driver. he then got a 1200 bandit about 4 years back and again he was asked for his licence.

Was it a motability car doc?
Dr filth can you get motability motorbikes?
If not why not ?

Ah i sense a new thread

leg, you can get one for a wheelchair user, though i doubt its much good for filtering http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4665489. stm
red up in the north west speed safe vans take a picture from the front , side and then the back. 4 months back bolton had 4 of these vans, manchester had 2 and were waiting for some more.
the new fixed speed camera's take front and back pictures so anyone like the one in the link will be caught straight away

::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

info about the speed safe vans from a friendly policeman
difficult to learn the highway code when you dont even speak the language.

I waited in a queue once, bl**dy n*bhead in a mercedes knocked me off.

Filter evey time now.

Know what you mean R1, my Bandit is aircooled, needs to move.
legend you can not have a motorbike on the mobility scheme, you can have a trike or like someone has already posted a threewheeler to let you stay in your wheelchair.
people have asked for a motorbike but like most things run by red tape . you never get an proper answer

Only time I queued I got knocked of by a n*bhead in a Mercedes. Filter every time now - in stationary traffic.

My Bandit is aircoooled so need to keep moving.

Certainly do have to drive defensive thought the the metal box owners cosy in their own personal space, often on a mobile.

Of course if we had a decwent judiciary we'd lock up repeat uninsured offenders. That'd stop them (at least for the period of incarcaration that could increase for every offence)

If we deported immediatl;y the illegals that'd stop that.

Needs more Bobbies on our streets. Wont get that under Noo Labour though more concerned with fining you for an overflowing bin - its easy money
Gromit but why are you telling me the bleedin obvious/

Geez
"I've bought lots of bikes over the years and no one has ever asked to see my licence. Is it recent change to law?

Gromit:
"You MUST notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in Swansea as soon as possible when you sell a vehicle... ... The seller is responsible for forwarding (the new owners details) to DVLA.

You need to produce your licence when you buy a bike, so the seller inform the DVLA
I always filter on my bike when i reach slow moving traffic, there is no such thing as a traffic jam when you are on a bike, thats the advantage of 2 wheels over 4. There is nothing illegal about the actual act of filtering, there is even guidance on how to do it safely in the highway code.

I'm sure that it looks reckless and irresponsible to most car drivers who have no concept of 2 wheeled transport. The levels of concentration and focus during such manouvres is vastly greater than that of someone sitting in their steel cage with the heater on and radio 2 gently soothing them on the journey home, these are the people who make unannounced and unexpected manouvres jumping from lane to lane to gain an extra cars length on the guy in front of them.
Might i also add that when your crawling along at 5mph in your car, when the guy on the bike is traveling at 20mph it may make him look like he is driving way too fast and in a reckless manner when in fact its not the speed thats the issue , its the lack of concentration and consideration for others that causes a lot of accidents, hence the ad' campaign, think bikes!!. it doesn't just apply to when your about to pull out of a junction.
All said though i have witnessed some crazy antics by other bikers and i'm sure that that does nothing for the defence here, but no-one really goes out with the sole intention of committing suicide when filtering.
I rode motorbikes all my adult life.

I stopped in 2000 when an overtaking motorcyclist banking on a blind bend slammed his head in to my windscreen.

He was practically decapitated, his face had gone and his body truncated. His brother - in - law and friends he was riding with couldn't stop and ran over his body and his bike, causing severe injuries to themselves.

These weren't young kids - the youngest was 43, all on high performance bikes. One widow and three children without a dad, in the blink of an eye.
ethel one thing i have noticed over the years . when a bike is invloved in a crash .people say high performance, if a car like a jaguar had hit you would you have stated that it was a high performance car.or would you have just said it was a jaguar.
if whiffy who on here has stated that his lotus goes from 0-60 in a couple of seconds is ever in an accident i bet no one will say he has crashed his high performance car. they will just say he has wrapped up his lotus.
