The handbook says it only plays Digital Compact Disc and will not player CD-R disc.

Does that mean I can't burn my cassette format music onto CD-R and play it?

100% compatiblity does not exist between cd-r media and cd players.
Try burning your music in WAV format and at lowest possible speed.( IF USING MAC AIFFS FORMAT).
Ensure disc is finalised ,its the table of contacts.

I�m with Nkakamasembe on this one.
Burn the discs at a slow speed and use a good quality blank (not from the � shop or Tesco).

I have a CD player I bought back around 1980 (long before anyone burnt CDs on a PC), it happily plays my PC burnt CDs.
