Having reported 2 cars untaxed and unsorn i have found that 1 car is owned by a police officer,
Are they exempt from the same rules as the rest of us as one of the cars has been dumped there for 8 years now ?

I sold my car to a trader.

It appears on the DVLA website as 'unlicensed' now.

Presumably therefore dealers can have cars that are neither taxed or SORNed. Perhaps that is what has happened here.
Sorn only if they are valid for tax..ie just run out and due for a renewal, not off the road for ages
Question Author
you have to renew a sorn every year or when you transfer a vehicle to a new owner
"Are they exempt from the same rules as the rest of us" - Yes.
google "Ian Tomlinson" or "Charles de Menezes"
But what about traders?
maybe you should go and ask him? he may fill you in on the whole story

I knew a mate that knew the dvla were calling about his car so he took the wheels off it (it was parked off road), they wouldnt take it away because they said it was unroadworthy. weird..
Question Author
you are responsible for taxing or sorning a vehicle as long as the log book is registered to you with the option of scrapping it
"maybe you should go and ask him? he may fill you in on the whole story "
he may also see you as a potential easy target to count towards his arrest targets. Especially since he/she has access to the DVLA system, and therefore knows that you've grassed him/her up.
Question Author
what would happen if i moved the cars to a public road i wonder ?
Why have you got a tow truck Phil? Go for it!
So they are not on a public road? leave it then
Question Author
the owner does not live at the house, it is empty
Question Author
i cant be seen to move them with a tow truck but i can push em to the road
Question Author
Well thanks for your views, i will update you on this soon
Do it in the dead of night, with a few of your mates to help you push 'em into the road
Once again I point out that if he is a trader the situation might be different.

The trader's name never appears on the reg document.
Question Author
will do lard then i can get my artic round to my garage
Question Author
