I have a Sony CD player. Whe I play CDS on it it skips every 10-15 secs. I have tried cleaning lens with a laser lens cleaner twice but no better. Anyone have any other solutions i can try?

I had a similar problem with a TEAC player i had. after a couple of attempts at repair, i binned it. basically it was more worthwhile in the long run to get a new one. i now have a NAD and it's lush!
Have you tried gently cleaning the lens with a liquid cleaner on a cotton buddie. (If you only used a brush thing on a CD they are not very effective).

Liquid cleaner - the little bottles you can buy to clean cassette drive heads works very well.

I got this from someone on here and have revitalised three different CD players!!
Doesn't work if you can't get at the lens to clean it. :(
try putting the CD player upsidedown when a CD in on. I know it sounds a bit funny but it worked for me
i took the back off and blew in it with a hairdryer, that worked for a while.
How old is your CD player?
my ipod was doing that couple of weeks back - then the fuse went in the plug and when i changed it the problem was solved so might be electrical fault and not the player.
I had an early (late 80's) Sony portable CD player and as it was nearing the end of it's useful life it would skip to great annoyance. I am an experienced electronics technician and tried all cleaning methods to no avail. In my opinion based on my personal experience, Sony builds products to a limited lifetime specification and once the product is worn out, replacement is the only economical alternative. As you can guess, I replaced it with a different brand. I like Panasonic and Phillips portable audio products. Both of them have since been superceded by the iPod, however. In summary, it's time to replace your CD player.

The same thing happened to me last night when I was watching a rented DVD and it kept skipping... I rubbed a tiny bit of toothpaste on it and then used soft lenscloth to wipe it off (outwards from the centre motion) and the DVD played smoothly after that, no hitches at all ... have a go?
