my friend and i were reccently discussing a film we both saw around 1989 (on video, so it was probably around sooner). It was about a community of people who lived in in the forest and a pack of wolves used to terrorise them. i have a vauge feeling that the father of the main family may have been bitten by a wolf and turned into one and had to hide from his family. I also know there was a scene in it where wolves ran in through the window and over a table where there was a banquest/dinner party. we thought it may have been the Wolves of Willoughby Chase, but we've since bought and watched that and it's not it at all. The film we are talking about is quite dark and horror-ish, like a twisted fairy tale. sorry it's very vague but i'd love it if anyone can help us out!
That's The Company of Wolves that is. Reeeeally dark fairytale by Neil Jordan- the guy who directed The Crying Game. Top movie - haven't seen it in ages though... Just checked cdwow.com and play.com and neither have it though. Try http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087075/ for more info...
Libertie, it's effectively 'Little Red Riding Hood' but in a more gothy, darker but passionate/romantic (in terms of the Wolves feelings for the 'pack') feel. Jordan's cinematography is outstanding. Very dreamy, fairytale feel to it.
