One of the most well known B sides must be Queen's We Will Rock You (every time I hear it I expect them to go straight into We Are the Champions). I've had some singles where I eventually preferred the B side
My favourite was the B side to "It's Over", Roy Orbison 64. It is called Indian Wedding, and sung with such a haunting tone, modulating from key to key, that it still sends a thrill down my spine nearly 50 years later.
Thanks Mark. I was looking forward to hearing about a B side I might have missed but the link was interesting. I used to think 'rack my brains' was correct until I saw 'wrack' in a few articles in newspapers so I avoided writing the phrase, but it now seems I may have been right after all
incidentally, Michael Quinion says rack and wrack have been tangled up for so long they're now basically the same word , and you can use whichever you want
Most bought Jasper Carrot's Funky Moped for the 'B' side Magic Roundabout. I always looked forward to listening to B sides when I bought singles. Some were excellent. I felt cheated in the 70s when artists just put instrumental versions of the song on the B side- George McRae (Rock Your Baby), Barry White, etc
I had that M single but think it was sold at a car boot (or did I leave it on the window ledge on a sunny day?). Although I remember the title of the B side I don't remember the tune at all but I'll see if I can find it on youtube later. That's odd because I can still remember the B sides of most singles I bought
Yes, I had that one, Graham. I also recall having an ELO single that had a B side which was the same song in reverse.
Which reminds me- this was the fantastic B side of Mr Blue Sky.
Also Masterplan was great B side of Wonderwall by Oasis
I think it is one of the best songs oasis ever done yet it ended up as a B side.
Along with Acquiesce which was another great oasis song that was a B side.
