Does anyone have any tried and tested ideas on firming cream, I would like to find one that will tighten my neck area and jowly bits you get on your face (when reaching a certain age) thanks.

Skin becomes more slack with age, its a fact, just like hair goes grey, by applying a cream all you will do, at best is fill out a few tiny wrinkles in the epidermis when the cream is absorbed, a bit like putting a bit more air in a slightly soft inner tube. However, the cream will soon be absorbed by the deeper tissues of the dermis, and when that happens the wrinkles will just return. I see all the ads for these amazing sounding 'scientifiky' products on TV, and it makes me smile, but it is also a bit cynical of the manufacturers to prey on the insecurities and vanity of people. I saw a report on TV a few years ago that tested a load of wrinkle removing and firming products against simple Nivea moisterising cream, the Nivea was at least as good as all of them, and for a fraction of the cost.

I don't think any of these products do what they promise. The best way of keeping your face and neck in good condition is to get a cream, anything cheap and cheerful,Nivea.Old fashioned Boots Cold Cream.Smear it liberally all over your face and neck.Get a clean rough face flannel. Not one that has been washed and tumble dried.Wring it out in as hot a water as you can bear and really give your face and neck a good going over to remove the cream. This removes any dead skin .Spash your face and neck liberally with cold water afterwards to close the pores.Do this regularly night and morning and in a few weeks you will have a super complexion and soft skin.it will also help to "plump" the skin up.
Glad you agree smudge. My dear old Mum who died ten years ago aged 91 swore by this method. She had lovely skin even at that age.Of course she had wrinkles. You can't avoid them ,but this is what she always did and I do the same thing.I think that all these things they advertise for giving you younger firmer skin are a load of rubbish.Another good way of plumping up your skin is to drink plenty of water. We all want to keep our wrinkles at bay but shelling out mega money to do so is a con.
Just in case you would actually like to try a cream Linda, I recommend Lush Mirror Mirror. Of course the others are right that creams can't erase wrinkles or do much to tighten aged skin, but they can offer a temporary firming effect and some prevention from future problems. Also Jean88 is right to say don't expose your skin to the sun - use a moisturiser with spf15 minimum at all times and always extend it across your neck - and also try face masks (again Lush do very good fresh ones). I've heard good things about facial exercises too (the Eva Fraser system) but they do require some time commitment, like all exercise.
