Record Length

I am converting my LPs to cd using Audacity. It will be very useful to know how long the playing time of each side is on a record. Is there a simple way of doing this other than playing against a timer??

My brother-in-law gave me his Audacity deck and disc because he couldn't work out how to use it. Sadly, I have never been able to work out the instructions as well.
No help I'm afraid but good luck.

Thanks Chrissa. I found that most Audacity problems are answered on the online manual and specific problems by registering on the forum under the help button. This particular problem is the only one I cant find an answer for.. All the best as it is a very good program when you have sorted it out.

Ah! I never got round to looking at the on-line manual, joe. I might give it another try as I have a load of old LPs in the garage. Cheers.

Does it not say on the LP sleeve the length of each track?

From memory an LP was 30mins. Average pop song is 3+mins = 10 per side. When I put pop onto CD disk I limit to 18songs for full coverage.

nb not all songs/recordings are same length, your burning software tells the best fit.

If you go to iTunes store and search for your album it will list all the tracks with timings
