Quo have been around for forty years, have they ever broken up then reformed? cant recall
Question Author
the shadows in 1958 but have they broken up and reformed?
true bout the shads but they've been quiet for so long where as Quo are always around doing something

The Quo started out in 1962 as The Spectres, then Traffic, then Traffic Jam before coming Status Quo in 1967.

Pink Floyd formed in 1965 and although the bassist Roger Waters left and declared Pink Floyd defunct, the remaining band members recorded and twice toured under the Pink Floyd name without him. Waters rejoined the band at the London Live 8 concert on July 2, 2005, playing to Pink Floyd's biggest audience ever.

The Shadows split altogether and reformed in 1968 & 1990 and both times reformed the last time being in 2004 for the farewell tour.

I find it hard to believe the Quo have never split up. Haven't they done half a dozen 'farewell tours'?

Drummer John Coghlan left the band in late 1981, to be replaced by Pete Kircher from 1960s band Honeybus. This short-lived lineup played its last gig in 1984 at the Milton Keynes Bowl, and reformed briefly to open the Live Aid charity event at Wembley in July 1985. That year Rossi recorded and released two singles with longtime writing partner Bernie Frost. While he and the remaining members recorded a new album in secret with new bass player John Edwards and drummer Jeff Rich, ex-Judie Tzuke Band and Climax Blues Band who had backed Parfitt on a still-unreleased solo album, Lancaster took out a legal injunction to stop them playing as Status Quo, which he later lost.

The remainder of the band reformed in 1986 with the commercially successful In The Army Now album, and continue to this day with a revised personnel.

What about The Rolling Stones?
Bill Wyman left the band in 1992 and Jagger/Richards both had a dalliance with a solo career. But they have been a band since 1961, with Ron Woods joining in 1975.
The Beach Boys fomed in 1961 and although some original members left they are still going in 2005 without breaking up and reforming.
The Four Tops formed in 1958, and I think are still in action despite the death of two members. they have kept the same line-up from inception, and although they are now known as the Tops - it must be a record for continual performance and recording with no new members being added, and the only departures occuring through death.
http://www.originaldrifters.com/ claims a 50th anniversary for the "original" Drifters, although there's only 1 left now.
did the others drift off...?
u2.
