Rainbow Crossing To Celebrate Transgender Awareness Week
Everyone recognises a Zebra crossing as a safe place to cross the road, but Camden Council has decided to celebrate Transgender Awareness Week by painting this one in bright colours. If I came across it I would assume it's a bit of artwork so I wonder what would happen if a driver didn't recognise it as an official crossing and ran someone over?
Whoever came up with this potty - and dangerous - idea needs their bumps felt.

It presumably is not meant to be a zebra crossing though.
As a driver, you always need to be alert to pedestrians crossing, and provided (provided) they are placed at junctions where traffic is not meant to be speeding, then I don't see the problem.
I see motorists ignore official crossings all the time. But I think most people if they see something that "looks" like a crossing, would slow down or give way to someone on it! Which of course should be done even if there is no crossing :-)
. There is large strip of amber across one of the roads in our town centre, which looks like a crossing but is not. I often wondered if that might be dangerous, but as long as everyone is sensible then it's not an issue. The same applies to official zebra crossings, with beacons.
