I've just discovered my mum has took her period after ten years of menopause! Clearly there is something wrong with that. What could be the cause of such a phenomenon? She doesn't want to go to the doctor but I will make her go though I just wanted a quick explanation of what is going on. If it helps she has been feeling a little run down lately, she's got the cold. Also, she has pains in her lower abdomen and her back. Many thanks.

Dot is right - this could potentially be very serious.
Bleeding post-menopause can be an indication of cervical or endometrial cancer, but it could also me many minor things.
It is important that she get checked out to rule out anything major.
