Ipod update on disk

I am trying to update my i pod shuffle with the latest version, however as I am only on dial up I started the download and was told it would take 5 1/2 hours to down load! I am not to botherd if I do not have the lastest version. However, as I am about to purchase another ipod shuffle and am told that the software for the new generation ipods are not sold with a disc and that they have to be downloaded. Is it possible to get the latest version of the software on disc as I dont really want to spend 5 1/2 hrs downloading it

Not really. Go to a friend's house and download the software then burn it to a CD so you can install it on yours.
