Stupid Statement Or What.
28 Answers
I see many requests on here from posters to other posters to admit when they have got it wrong, if you are able to do that, most of the time you will be admired and may be listened to in the future and taken seriously.
The problem we have with this government, and half the reason we struggle to get out of this mess, is they can't find it in them to do this, the result is that people will no longer do as they ask, and refuse to believe in what they say even if the evidence is there.
This morning on TV we have Matt Hancock making such a stupid statement it was past ridiculous. Quote. The PM was right in saying schools are safe, and for teachers, but he had to close them because children can pass the virus. un quote.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, is this not like me saying my central heating boiler is safe to use, but I closed it down because it was leaking deadly fumes. This idiot is just one big creep, he couldn't get any further up the PM backside if he tried.

Everyone sees the U-turn.
But they cannot admit to a U-Turn because that would be admitting they were wrong.
So they deny a U-Turn and deny they were wrong. Even though everyone remembers Johnson saying on Sunday that schools would reopen on Monday and that they were safe, and then closing them on Tuesday because they weren’t.
Unfortunately the impression is that the Government are shifty and lying.

[email protected], You are wasting your time trying to get Danny to agree with you , he suffers with tunnel vision, and is so besotted with Boris he can see no wrong in him. Think its called hero worship.
//TC, the point I as making was that Matt Hancock did not get it wrong. As there are changes in matters to do with Covid then changes have to be made to counteract those changes.//
There were no changes to cause such a radical change of direction in the 24 hours or so between "Schools will definitely open" and "Schools will remain closed." Furthermore, Mr Hancock suggested that the PM had to close schools because children can pass on the virus. That fact wasn't discovered in that 24 hour period either, Danny. It had always been known. Very little changed between the two announcements; all that had changed was the Prime Minister's mind because quite frankly, neither he nor any of his ministers are very well equipped in crisis management. The very last people you want taking important decisions at times of crisis are today's career politicians. They will argue until the cows come home with the EU over the price of beetroot but ask them to decide whether the schools should open or remain closed and it all gets a bit too much for them.

Danny, lets see if I can make this really easy for you. PM and Hancock are still declaring schools to be (SAFE) but then say/ admit that the virus can be spread in school. My question to (you) How can a school be classed as safe, if the virus can be spread in school. "Conclude" there is no such thing as a safe school.
There are different questions poised in OP.
First, people have got to realise that they are wrong before there is even a chance of admitting they are wrong - many will never admit they are wrong eg as seen last week at Capital Hill certification interruption, Trump (maybe) but his supporters still believe the election was stolen so are unlikely to admit they/he are wrong.
Hancock perhaps erroneously?!., gave a false statement. Politicians lie, spin and weasel sometimes... but you are correct, that behaviour erodes trust further.
