Yet again we have another country burning to the ground.,And yet still we have people complaining they are not able to get on a polluting plane to go on their so called well earned holiday abroad. Incredible greed and selfishness.
Yes indeed. First world problems. Incidentally I wld love to get on a plane but mine wld be to see family on another continent. It’s been 2.5 years and I was supposed to fly there last March when lockdown hit. My parents are elderly and my mum has been dx with cancer. But South Africa is still on the “red” list. So in my case I believe hopping in a plane is a good reason -...
Well means you don't seem to have seen the latest, the TV report this morning showed hundreds of Greeks all in one big building, like cattle in a shed with fire on all sides.
And I was very sure that one poster ann would pop in with a big spoon, in an effort to get me going, it won't work my dear you've tried so many times before, even in your attempt to get me banned, you failed.
Unfortunately these wild fires come every year. Can be caused by lightening strike, like the big Yellowstone one, carelessness with outdoor cooking or arson. There have always been summer fires and there always will be. We have them here, in fact just had two and one was a discarded cigarette.
calmck Your input is welcome and valued, and what you say is true up to a point, but we, and all can't accept that being the main reason any more, and would be fools to believe otherwise
Well Anne, it is in Chatterbank so the direction it's gone in should be no surprise. Unfortunately the Ed is not here to move it out of the nonsense category...unless of course nonsense answers were the desire?
I agree totally with teacake. It must be heartbreaking for the people watching their homes burning . Don't forget the animals that are being burnt alive. Why on earth is a holiday so important to some people?
May be if the thread is still ongoing in the morning the ED can move it to current affairs or such and the personal attacks can be controlled/ reported?
Andres I don’t know your age or TC s for that matter but as my husband was 80 recently and I’ll be 75 in November, I’d say holidays are important to us
Pasta, I don’t know why tc bothers, I think no matter what topic they are in they get shouted down. I m h o . Staying on subject, the uncontrollable fires coming from popular holiday destinations with British are horrendous . Very sad .
andres, In most cases if not all, its about prestige nothing more. Its not the holiday they want, its the bragging before they go abroad, and the bragging thats done when they come back.
Holidays are important for many reasons, a break from work, a break from being a carer, a break from a difficult situation. How people take their break is for them to decide. We had lives and livelihoods lost in a fire here but tourism is a source of employment for many here. Many are having a hard time given Covid. What would you like them to do? Greece is also heavily reliant on tourism.
