Plenty on here will have witnessed a similar decline in our own elders. There are arguments for both leave options, leave now gives time for the VP to set out her stall in office, which may calm some of her detractors, it also spares the Biden family the risk of further embarrassing incidents. Leave at end of term can be seen as easier for the man himself who may already be intermittently aware of his situation, but enables him to depart with some of his pride intact, it may also give additional time for a better candidate than ms Harris to come to the fore, time is running out though and she may become the candidate of expediency.
Biden has not actually been diagnosed with dementia as far as we know... it is quite possible he is just very old and has had a job that was too demanding for him over the past four years.
people used to say that hilary clinton was mortally unwell back in 2016 as well because of that video of her getting carried into her car and another one of her having a seizure... i am not a very sympathetic person when it comes to politicians but i think it's equally possible that running for president is just knackering! you need stamina for it and most people over 70 just don't have it.
It's like having an elderly relative who is no longer safe to drive but rather than doing the "cruel to be kind" thing and taking away the keys, you just hope that there won't be a terrible accident in the near future, and they eventually agree to stop it. Now we have a situation where he says, "just let me drive another six months, I'll be fine." Dangerous, and further humiliations will inevitably follow.
For goodness sake leave the poor man alone, dont you think he will be down enough having given up the nomination?
Pushing him out now (and he would have to be pushed) could easily finish him off, as said before let hime finish, he clearly hasnt been running the country for a while so whats another 6 months?
If this was my thread, I'd be giving TTT multiple best answers. It doesn't cost much to treat an outgoing leader with dignity. None of us can even begin to imagine just how much pressure he's been under, particularly in the past few weeks. He'll have so much behind the scenes support in the next few months, so he can leave on a positive.
I suspect forcing him out now would be legally very complicated and so time consuming with appeals etc that it may take it beyond the January deadline anyway . Unless you could get doctors to certify him clinically unfit which again may be more complicated than we know.
Can you imagine Trump and the Republicans rubbing their hands in glee if the above were to happen
