Just watching the bbc news and the french are moaning that the italians are letting in tunisians who then make their way to france. A bit like the pot calling the kettle black I think given that they had no qualms about letting people in france to come here!

I think you should applaude the French for their no nonsense attitude.

Trouble is, almost all Tunisians speak French, so they feel more at home in France than in Italy. Also, France was the Colonial Power in Tunisia, so in a way the Tunisians are getting their own back.

The French blame us for our iberal attitudes and easy benefits system for attracting unwanted immigrants, if they didn't gain by leaving France for the UK they wouldn't bother.

Tunisia, Italy, France and then the short trip to Britain.

The only reason the French are moaning is because it will mean another untidy temporary camp on their territory, until such times that the Tunisians can hop over the Channel to England.

What's the history of France's involvement in Tunisia? Would like to read up on the history. Is it anything like Britain's colonial involvements around the world?

I think the difference is that the Italians gave 20,000 Africans temporary visas, and now many of these people are going to France.

But in the case of people in Calais wanting to come to the UK, France didnt "let the people in to come here" as many are illegal immigrants so France have no control over them and did not give them visas.

So very dfifferent scenarios.
