I have no connections with the Police whatsoever. But I respect their work and I am appalled that PC Simon Harwood has gone on trial over the death of Ian Tomlinson. From what I saw of the filmed footage, Tomlinson was being a pain by deliberately walking slowly to hold police up during what was an extremerly difficult time for them. He didn't die there and then but some time later, so it wasn't like the push killed him. The push didn't look severe either, so for someone to die as a result of that they must have had other health issues. Seems to me the system has given in to the eer-increasing blame culture in British society today. A decade or so ago and the claims of Tomlinson's loved ones would have been dismissed out of hand, and I hope that's the outcome of this trial. You?

Some people wouldn`t know the truth if it bit them on the backside. Its pretty obvious that this uniformed thug is guilty of a cowardly & unprovoked attack, & if he gets away with it then the establishment he represents will once again prove to be no better than the guilty parties that have gone before.
Like flipnflap I have no connection to the police but his/her views do not agree with the facts. Even if Mr Tomlinson was in the way this does not mean he should be struck and pushed and it appears after the incident the police stay where they are, there was no need to move Mr Tomlinson. The most shocking thing is the behaviour of the other Officers present when Mr Tomlinson is struck and pushed who do not seem to criticise Mr Harwood for his actions in any way or make any attempt to help Mr Tomlinson, they seem to regard this as the way members of the public should be treated.

The Police need the support of the public and this is not the way to get it, I hope Mr Harwood obtains the justice he deserves.
