The Metropolitan Police produces stats for the numbers stopped and searched. Looking at Barking and Dagenham (the first in the list of London Boroughs) in the three months ending May this year, they stopped 18.18 per 1,000 of the white population there. For black folk there, they stopped 35.7 for every thousand. The arrest rates show 8.72% for white folk and 9.06% for black folk.
While the arrest percentages are similar they stopped almost twice as many black folk as white folk.
Targeted Stop and Search is the only way. This also means concentrating in hot spot areas. If the hot spot areas have a majority black population those stopped will also be black. I surprised anyone can object to this logic.
If its how rov1100 says then that makes sense. If African-Caribbean people are being singled out solely because of their colour in areas that don't have a majority black population then I believe this is wrong.
If the areas are where there are a number of black on black gang stabbings and shootings take place, then isn't it beneficial to all law abiding citizens be them black or white, that the police carry out stop and search methods on suspected perpetrators of these crimes?
