The police may not be appearing to take a positive approach to the problem of these mobs on our streets, but should vigilante groups be allowed, brandishing their illegal weapons?

How long would the police tolerate bands of other vigilantes to stand guard outside their premises carrying shot guns or even air weapons?

In a ITV report it stated,

sorry AOG, I didn't see in the link any reference to shot guns or air rifles, that would be too much, as, I think, are the swords, but the line is there, people should be able to protect their community.
If large gangs are wandering round actively seeking the rioters then that's no good, because they're going to use up vital police resources.
Maybe a message should be sent out to clarify the best way to help the police in these instances where the community do want to show a united front against the rioters.

So just because they have a long,proud heritage of bravery in battle while serving in the British Army, should they be allowed to defend their families and property with their swords and knives?

One could equally say that any ex- serviceman or even serving one who may also have a long, proud heritage of bravery in battle, should also be allowed to defend their families or property with their particular choice of weapons.

After all wouldn't it be "second nature" to them also?

I think we should all be able to stand outside our own property, be it home, workplace or place of worship. Holding our weapon of choice and peaceably saying in a loud tone 'Go away' and woe betide anyone who ignores it.
