What will be the outcome to all this?

Why are these activists causing so much trouble?

/// Meanwhile Northern Irish TV presenter Gloria Hunniford arrived by taxi at the site this morning. It was unclear if she was supporting the travellers, or calling for them to leave.///

Speaking up for her own county folk, no doubt?

10 years on, and the council still have a fight on their hands to get them out. Is it true i wonder that some of those squatting have homes back in Ireland, new builds waiting for them when they move on. As to Vanessa Redgrave, Gloria Hunniford what on earth is it to do with them, no more the activists who just jump on the bandwagon, at any opportunity. Have them squat on their land and see how they like it.
I don't think they are sqatting Em10 - I think they own the land. I think the issue is breach of planning laws.
They do own the land....

Bailiffs have been called off.

Only for negotiations...
Why do they always want to set up on green belt land and creating a mess at the same time? Why don't they choose brown field sites where house developers steer clear with a bargepole?

Just because land is owned, it doesn't mean that any Planning Department is duty-bound to grant Planning Consent for *any* particular proposals.
they may own the land as mentioned, but that doesn't give them, or indeed anyone the right to build on it without the councils planning permission. You have to jump through hoops to get even the tiniest change to your property, and i believe most people abide by the law, and go the proper route. Not buy up land, and then start building where they choose. Surely the money it's cost, and time time it's taken this could have been sorted a lot sooner. Which ever way this turn out, i can see them getting what they want, as the council is going to look hard hearted bar stewards, so sympathy swings to the travellers.
i think they should leave them be.

after all, i don't want them evicted and travelling to a nice field near me.
some nice kindly travellers parked their multitude of caravans on a relatives land, and no amount of friendly persuasion would shift them. If you are a traveller by definition, shouldn't you be moving.
Ankou, shows you have no heart....
travelling costs money, besides there aren't as many sites available to travel to as there used to be.

their means of travelling and opportunities for re-siting has diminished over the years.
The fact that the field was on green belt land probably having the rubbish dump was illegal anyway.
It's what activists do anotheoldgit,

The don't solve problems or build things, but they are great at destroying other peoples efforts.
