Is there any real reason for newspapers to print pictures of Michael Jackson on the morturary slab?

I understand the pictures were shown to the jury at the trial of Dr Conrad Murray, but does printing the picture actually add to the story?

I won't include a link, because personally, I think it's all a bit nasty.

I think they do it 'because they can'.........there really doesn't seem to be any other logical reason.

I agree with you. It seems that anything goes these days. Although you'd think that in the light of the current brouhaha at News International, they'd apply a bit of restraint.

The only reason for those pictures being circulated is to stir up an emotional frenzy, and to "unfocus" the jury's minds from the actual issues.

And to sell newspapers.

I haven't bought a newspaper for years and am even less likely to now. Human mortality is an ever present shadow especially as one gets older and pictures of the dead, just for the sake of publishing them, are most unwelcome.

I was dismayed to see a once great artist and musician reduced to being photographed as a corpse.

There is no reason for this picture to be published that I can see - and yes, it is nasty.

yes it is nasty, but somehow there is a morbid fascination in the world with such stuff. most people without looking can picture the corpse of rasputin, stalin, mussolini.

its grotesque but the image of death is ever an indulgence of the human psyche. probably for the reasons doc states at 09.41
