The voting was nothing to do with race was it as I thought Marcus was the favourite and should have won?

Ahh, I can see where you are coming from, but I read the question a different way. I (and I believe others) read it as "Marcus came second even though he was better and therefore it was a race issue" - and I've got to say, his follow-up post kind of re-iterated that.
So come on rov - give us all some clarification.
What did you mean exactly?

SP, since practically everyone here agrees that the results were not influenced by race, your post which began "Hang on everyone - the question actually DOES have validity.", and went on to mention Misha B's apparent exit for being deemed " too urban and to black", then gay issues, which as far as I can tell had nothing to do with the question at all, and finished with "However Little Mix are lovely lasses and I'm really pleased they won." - 'however' being the operative word - it certainly didn't come across that way. Yes, I can see where you're coming from.
By the way, I wanted Marcus to win too - but he didn't. End of story.

snafu, were they married? I've heard a few different variations but never knew which to believe.. and wasn't really bothered enough to find out, i love their music (well a lot of it), I don't get why their marriage would be any hinderance, certainly given that their music was never really the type to be influenced heavily by marketing anyway. Maybe the are they / aren't they was a better plug.
that was the point AOG, most don't think it does matter.
Whereas I do think many of the artists had talent, what they can show is limited and directed in order to be popular then and there.. the two are often different. As we've seen, it was probably the 2 most likeable acts that got to the final.
It takes a hell of a lot to achieve any kind of longevity in today's charts and, as a rule, pop acts don't tend to succeed.. although some boy bands do maintain a strong fanbase which will see them going strong for a while. That's the nature of the beast!

This is what happened...
rov1100 posted a question which stated that the result had nothing to do with race.
Then he was criticised for bringing race into the story.
However, my post as that his question have validity because he was referring to another story which had been in the papers a couple of days ago 'about Mischa B being perceived as too black'.
I was simply stating that rov1100 wasn't stirring by bringing up the question of race...he (and I) were agreeing that...
...you know what - I've just noticed my reflection in my tv screen, and I've actually gone blue in the face.
Methinks it time to give in trying to explain now.
