I don't think it's right, but i'm not the law.
He went to the assistance of the conductor on the train, who seemed to be an older man. This charge is a disgrace.

sandyroe, agree, but obviously the law doesn't see it that way. What happened i wonder to the thugs who stabbed a conductor recently..
Morally - no, he helped the ticket guy out.

Legally - yes, the law is the law.
A travesty, but not surprising in this pc age.

penelope, the father of the student i believe went to the police with the charge, so perhaps that has held sway.

it's no wonder people don't help others when they are in trouble.
well there we have the end of anyone offering to help someone in distress, anyone offering to step in to help someone being bullied or about to be assaulted.
Anyone wondering why little scallies think they can get away with anything they want need only look this far.
Even if he were a young man the conductor does not have the right to manhandle anyone off the train.
There is no denying that 'the big man' did in fact assault the youth, who has also been charged.

The conductor should have allowed the train to continue, alerting the BRP that an offender needed to be apprehended at the next stop.
Shocking to be told that that man has been charged. People will be scared to come forward to help other people! I find it disgusting.
He has so far only been charged, if this ever goes before a court of law and he is then convicted, it will be another disgrace for British Justice.

Since he went in defence of a member of the train staff, perhaps they should consider taking action, if this chap is ever found guilty?
Hang on - this youth was being mouthy. He didn't threaten anyone nor did he assault anyone.
The guard will have been trained to deal with situations like this and he would have been able to ask for help from other staff on the train.

It is not up to a member of the public to take the law into their own hands.

If that becomes the case any "large" man can do what they like to any small person (small man, woman or child) saying they were upholding the law.

Had the youth physically assaulted the conductor or anybody else, that would be a different matter.
He didn't, and he wasn't threatening to.

HD, perhaps, but in this day and age words count as well as deeds, he was drunk, he swore continually at the conductor, why should anyone on the train put up with that, i don't feel sorry for the student, but i do the man.
