Do you think the best Answer is good or pointless?
And do you think it is an excuse to sneak another advert onto the page?

Hello Ab Editor,
I am not convinced having the OP pick the best answer and for it to be displayed prominently is a good idea. They are likely to just pick an answer which mirrors their own opinions.
If you need something to accompany the advert, why not give everyone the ability to vote for an answer. Like your polls. Then, instead of a repeat of the OPs...

I have no problem with having a best answer - my question is can the OP update the best answer if an even better one rolls in (like Ankou's here).
I am not a fan of the very intrusive ad though......horrendous - why not the bottom of the page?...."'Cos it earns more money" will be the answer, and "Capitalism rools ok."

Are you offering to fund the site directly DTC? Or an alternative funding method?
Gromit, sounds like a good idea in general. We already had half the Best Answer system implemented though, so it was much easier to "make live" - rather than creating a whole new system.
"They are likely to just pick an answer which mirrors their own opinions."
This is probably true of the News section, but it's unlikely to be so in Q&P.
