It appears that the parents of the 6 children killed in a fire at Derby have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are to be questioned later. There seems to have been rumours and I wondered if that was what they were about after caravan/mini bus were taken for forensic examination. I suppose it wasn't meant to be anything other than an accident which went terribly wrong. If they did do it, they will have this to live with for the rest of their lives. Those poor children.

They are not the first to be arrested on suspicion during this investigation - the others were released without charge.

i agree with you it all looked very false on there interview not a tear in sight, on either of them
I appreciate I many be cantering around on my high horse here, but before we descend into an orgy of speculation, I think we should remind ourselves of...

I can't begin to imagine how I'd react in public after the shocking death of my child, so I would never judge anyone by that.
We're not robots, different people react differently, and who knows if they were on any form of sedation at the time?
Yes they could be that stupid Chrissa, and that was the scenario I thought of.
i heard this on the news, they have been arrested, but it's not a definite case for trial. As others have said, innocent until proven guilty.

Okay - I'll go side saddle.

The thing that gets me about this case (ignoring the arrests for the moment) is the waste, the sheer ridiculous waste. Imagine losing a child, now multiply that by six.

Its...just...horrific.
You just cannot get you brain round something so horrendous can you sp - I ts like a nightmare.
One of the things I do on the side is people behaviour. It's something I have studied for several years after a cheating partner made a fool of me.

There were a few things that stood out for me in the interview. I won't go into them on here as the case is on going.

However, it isn't just how they behave both in terms of general physical actions and towards each other. It's also the movements in the face and body and what they do or do not say in that broadcast interview too.

Suffice to say, in this case I would be voting guilty.
Hope you are NEVER on a jury, Grff
There was a rather crass moment on the TV news where someone asked "where are the other children" and the answer was "they're all dead"... but the questioner meant the other children of the father, who sometimes lived there too.
i thought it was a 'rehoming' or attention seeking issue at the time ... very disappointed to hear this though!
@hc4361

Someone who does behaviour profiling for a living once told me that sometimes more evidence can be got from the way someone reacts and hevaes than actual physical evidence.

The police do these interviews for a reason.
You also need evidence to find somebody guilty.
The Police use the press conferences of the bereaved to study their behaviour.
Plenty of people in the past have made emotional appearances in front of the media only to be charged later.
87% of murder victims are murdered by people they knew, this is the natural starting point any Police investigation.
I really can't believe they did it. In spite of all their past attention seeking scrounging publicity and getting every benefit in sight, I genuinely thought they loved their children, they were certainly affectionate with them when on TV. Also remember they sat at their eldest son's bedside willing him to live (he later died too) Can't get my head round the fact they could have done it on purpose to be re-housed, and block their way of escape - I read he kept running in the house distraught trying to rescue them. Its all so horrific ...................
he was supposed to have been well known for being a benefit cheat and a scrounger, so why would he murder his children ?? He will lose out on his benefits now so it makes no sense to do it. I don't think he/they will be found guilty. I feel terribly sad for them and I can't think of anything worse than losing 6 children and then being accused of killing them. If I am wrong I will hold my hands up !
This arrest could be a ploy to encourage a potential witness to come forward with evidence, either about the parents or somebody else.
