One change you would make
If you were prime minister for the day
I think I would introduce the age for service personnel to go on active (dangerous)service to over 25's - anyone under would be found other work to do

I agree with you Lofftie - children dont learn these lessons at nursery - they learn them at home, with family and friends. They have to learn at nursery - because all family and friends are out working their socks off to pay for a roof over their heads and food on the table.

The Iraq and Afghanistan wars are coming to an end the total cost being approx £40bn.
Divide this amount by 20m the number of adults in the UK. Then give £2000 to each adult which must be spent on British goods to get the country out of its mess.
If we can afford unnecessary wars then we can spend our future wealth on something more realistic.

I would take the eagerness for policy - and the budgets spent - on university education, and put it all into nursery education where it will actually do some good.
Not every child will gow up to be at university, but every child will grow up needing to know how to share, to integrate, to employ self-discipline, and to think of others - and nursery is where they learn those things.

If I were PM for the day, I would round up all homeless people, give them a hot bath, good hearty meals for the day, clean fresh clothes and bedding, and open up halls and community centres so they all had somewhere safe and warm to sleep each night.
