The Two Australian D-Jay Situation
Number one can the family of the poor woman who committed suicide sue? If so who and on what grounds?
Secondly, is it just me who finds the body language and apology on the news of the dj's a little overdone and fake?

I didn't want to mention anymore in my post as not to put words/ideas in users mouths/minds but you've hit the nail on the head although i think the women is crying in fear out of losing her job and not genuine but the guys eybrows, looking down at the floor etc.. Seemed too laboured and put on.
no idea, but what would be the point.
I listened to the radio this morning and the two were bleating on about
how sorry they were, and commiserations to the family, and so on, quite honestly i felt nauseated. They should be quiet from now on, on this subject at least. Whatever the rights and wrongs of this awful matter, a woman is dead, and until the inquest is concluded the family won't get any peace, and not even then. Let's hope they are able to take her body home for burial.

I guess that could be a more pertinent issue for her, the death was thousands of miles away and someone will have promised her that she couldn't possibly have caused it. The whole situation will be way beyond her comprehension of the world around her and she must be feeling very very confused. The bloke looked like he really didn't want to answer any uncomfortable questions but his bosses and lawyer have made him,
They were careful to include some significant legal-ese
1. it was a team idea with no individual to blame
2. (and this is a critical legal point) the outcome could not have been predicted
I would think the station and the hospital have some things to worry about more than the djs
the station; for transmitting in the first place without the participants' agreement and then compounding the fault by syndicating worldwide
the hospital; for not protecting nursing staff with a proper system or protocol for receiving inbound calls when the nature of their clients will obviously result in a great deal of attention from the public and the media

The two presenters are being made scapegoats for this death .
The decision to make the call and subsequently broadcast it , would have been authorised by the station's management .
Personally , I dont consider that it was that of a big deal - the hoax call itself - and would not have in any way consider taking my life , over it ; nor would the 99 % of people , in my opinion .
However , we are all individuals and it would appear that the nurse was adversely affected by the incident , and felt that it was sufficiently that of an issue , to end her life .
Very sad indeed for all those affected

whilst they are probably trying to demonstrate to the world how sad and sorry they are, by making all the usually signs and actions, that doesnt mean they are faking it.
they know people scrutinise these things, people want to find fault - as you and others already have - and probably dont want to risk something minor, such as a flicker of a 'wrong' emotion, and random look, a hand gesture etc to naturally just happen and to seemingly 'prove' to the world they dont care - so they are careful to 'over-egg the pudding'.
none of what happened was ever done with any malice in mind - they are not nasty criminals who have set out to do evil deeds, got caught and are now trying to get out of it!
they are just two normal people that made a daft joke - one that that went bizarrely wrong - they are not evil monsters that behind closed doors are laughng their heads off ... so why would you think they would now be play acting for sympathy and are really cold and heartless?
there are few people in their circumstances that would not genuinely feel terrible about whats happened - even though they are not to blame.

i didn't have to watch them, i listened to the blubbing on the radio, that was enough. they are a pair of idiots, the station should get a major telling off, and the hospital will have to up it's game to not let this sort of thing happen again. Kate could end up back there seeing as she was taken ill again in the last couple of days.
//The station and the hospital have both exonerated themselves; isn't that enough? //
they've done that for themselves have they?
well that's very clever of them
how have they done that exactly?
bearing in mind getting (not trying to get) participant approval is mandatory for the broadcaster and the hospital (so far as i know) has not been challenged on why any tom, dick or harry could phone in outside of the main reception's duty period?
