I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. We already have a folding door between our kitchen and dining room - surely this is no different. The tap in the bathroom is not a big deal either, I've got one - it cost a few quid extra to install a low-level tap, but tbh it's useful for washing the bathroom floor too. Water-washing your rear end is something I experienced in the Middle East and it's very effective.
having travelled through some parts of North Africa can testify to the unsanitary squat toilets, most undignified if i might say so.
These aren't squat toilets though, the Muslim friends I have all have proper gazunders.

If you want undignified, you want to see the hose you have to clean your bottom with at some of the service stations in Saudi....
someone mentioned squat toilets, i was simply saying how horrible they were.
I have to agree, em, same as the ones which pop up in French streets still.
squatting's healthier

(you don't have to read that if you don't want to, just take my word for it)
not when you pee over your shoes it isn't, or worse.
they ought to provide wellies....
it was the smell that rather did it for me. I vowed never to use them again
they normally have the footplates some way apart, at least the ones I've been in.

Anyway, a little ritual cleansing never did shoes any harm.
i wasn't going to waste my good shoes believe me, and avoided these pestilential places at all costs.
anyway - I still don't see what the fuss is about these houses. I have both Muslim and Jewish friends, and they tend to have two reception rooms in their houses so (if necessary) the men can sit apart from the women and children. This proposal is no different, just a bit more overt.
you can use mine if you're passing by, em

i always wonder why men and women want to sit apart, except on days when you have had a barney
