I've experienced that from a work colleague. It boils down to how much fuss the victim wants to make about it and in the current climate she got a favourable outcome to her. Shame on Britain is a vast exaggeration, I expect this happens on the tube everyday (I assume by tube they do mean the London underground?).

I'm not a tube user but could argue that you don't hear about it because of my very point - people don't report it.

Why do newspapers have to show the outside of buildings in their reports? Think we all know what a courthouse looks like. Only been on the underground a few times and probably wouldn't have noticed if anyone thrust their groin against me as I would probably have been pushing my boobs against some unsuspecting male. Jammed like sardines most of the time.

When I have been on the tube it's as maggie says. I've always had to stand up in a mass of people. I expect there's all sorts of boob touching, hair sniffing, bum brushing going on now and again. It may be a fallacy but I thought that was always a possibility on the tube - unlike cannibalism which was an over the top counter argument.

Not all females are innocent and once in a crowded tube carriage one young attractive girl shoved her behind into my groin. I did not complain obviously.

A young East European woman stood close behind me on the Tube escalators once. I wouldn't even have know she was there if someone hadn't said loudly that she was rifling through my rucksack.

Your post Sandy roe reminds me of a similar episode in the Gare du Nord in Paris. Whilst waiting in a queue this woman decided to play bumsie. At that very moment the loudspeaker said beware of pickpockets who are operating in the station.
