Always the chance of this when the Forces in these countries take immediate action. I hope the death toll is not a heavy one but given the numbers involved it could be a bloodbath.

Even the SAS struggle sometimes so just what were the Algerians thinking?
I do applaud their stance though. If they give in this sort of thing will escalate and we would see many more dead in different situations.
It has to be remembered the real killers are Al Quada

As mentioned on another post North Africa will soon become a no-go area. How can we protect every gas or oil installation spread over thousands of square miles when we don't know where the next attack will come from.
The politicians would like to deny it but France and ourselves have upset the apple cart by killing loads of Islamists in Mali. Like Afghanistan how can we possibly change the ideas of these semi backward countries who think nothing of mutilating others who don't obey Shariah Law.
Why couldn't Cameron have followed Obama and kept military personnel away from this Islamic ridden country and given no reason why Western companies would be attacked.
Probably too late now but we should not interfere with the internal politics or religion of something that is not possible to change. Now we are entering a new era where the final outcome is unknowable except those citizens in the firing line of these militants hangs by a thread.

pdq, i don't think it matters that our troops are in the Middle East, or anywhere for that matter where there are Islamic Militants, they hate the west or so it seems, so even if we had no military presence in any of these region they would still likely attack them. Pretty much the same way in Britain, the people who made excuses for the 7/7 bombers in London, that we should not interfere in other countries, i suspect they would have still set off their bombs irrespective of our involvement in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Middle East. It's a warped ideology that perpetrates mass killings against their own citizens, witness the killings in Syria, Pakistan, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq..
So what is the solution em
a) protect every western installation
b) get them to pull out and leave it to the nationals.
With firms like BP the cost of withdrawal could be immense
Policing these establishments is amost impossible
We could accept that Islamism is a way of life and let them get on with it.

we shouldn't accept that they can kill our citizens and get away with it, but at the same time, Islam is not a country, or one people, but for millions and millions of followers a way of life. There are moderates, and there are many extremists, like these men, and we can only protect our people so far.
