/// Earlier the court heard how Rashid had ‘little experience of women’ due to his education at an Islamic school in the UK, which cannot be named for legal reasons. ///
/// In other interviews with psychologists, Rashid claimed he had been taught in his school that ‘women are no more worthy than a lollipop that has been dropped on the ground’. ///
Then one has to ask, shouldn't these Islamic schools now be closed down, if they are teaching such things?

In it's most fundamental form ultra-orthadox Judaism is every bit as abusive, misogynistic and hateful as Islam or Christianity and aside from this man's word for the fact that he was ' taught' his own depraved notions at this school we have no idea whether that's true or not. ALL fundamental religions have room for hate, prejeudice and violence, none are better than another.
But NOX I dont recall any problems where a Jewish person has been in court in this country and tried to blame it on what he was specifically taught at school.
I dont recall the last time we had that much trouble with Jews as we seem to have with muslims and their religion.
Of course that might just be down to the fact that the vast majority of Jews all nearly 300000 wouldnt rather see this as a muslim state, didnt come here hating us and our ways, were actually grateful for being allowed to come here and have thanked us, just get on with things and for the most part have integrated and assimilated and chose to do so , whereas its the opposite with muslims.

There’s nothing at all wrong with my logic, LG.
In the question about the Gay Carnival some people suggested that such events set apart those for whom they are principally arranged from the very “mainstream” of which they craved to be considered a part. I may be wrong, but you seem imply that such events did not serve to set those minorities apart..
Now we have a person who has been educated in a somewhat separated institution which clearly sets them apart. (“…they promote notions of …apartness”).
So Gay people, because of their beliefs or lifestyle can have separate arrangements made to cater for their needs (and it doesn‘t really cut much ice to suggest they are “open to all“), but Muslim people cannot.
It is not a question of how divisive each of these is. They are both divisive. They both identify and emphasise the fact that a significant minority is different. But one is acceptable to you and the other is not. Of course it might be argued that Gay Carnivals do not necessarily turn their participants to thoughts of rape whereas Islamist schools do. But that isn’t the issue.
If there is any lack of logic it rests with you considering the possible consequences of each event and not the event itself. In the UK we do not penalise people for what they might do.

I don't understand why anybody could be called racist for speaking out about Muslims (Islam).
It's not a race it's a religion. Their are plenty of white Muslims in this country and others and the non white ones come from a wide variety of countries. Ergo speaking out against Muslims is akin to speaking out about Catholics.

But didn't you know, chrisgel, you mustn't speak out or have a view or opinion on ANYTHING that is remotely contentious. And that includes, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, the EU, the"Third World", wind farms, global warming, climate change, the obese, single mothers, Papists, rapists, Papist rapists, women, men, the British Empire, the clergy, slavery, benefit claimants, immigration, asylum seekers, the French, the government, the food people feed their children, law and order, sentencing by the courts, light bulbs, ANYTHING !!! (Unless, that is, your opinion coincides with Those Who Know Best). !!!!!!!!
NJ: If you'd ever been to a gay pride event (which I'm guessing you haven't), you'd find it hard to think of them as divisive/separatist events. You'd be surprised how many heterosexual people who come along just for the fun of it. Aside from some rather disgraceful experiences transgendered people have had, the atmosphere and attitude at gay pride events is one of overwhelming inclusiveness.
This may seem odd considering the name, but the spirit behind Pride events isn't that they're just for gay people - they're for everyone who thinks that the freedom of adults to love whoever they please is an important achievement that's worth celebrating. Which, naturally enough, includes a huge number of people irrespective of orientation.
To address the question at hand, I'm really not sure the same could be said for faith schools. They seem to me to be forces for ignorance in society and there's a worrying level of evidence suggesting that both Islamic and Christian faith schools tend to provide quite shoddy levels of education on science (especially the theory of evolution). To my mind, this is unacceptable.

Being a Muslims I agree 100%. Having said that before closing a school that is teaching something that has nothing to do with Islam, I would like to know where this school is? I would like to go and see the teacher myself who (allegedly) taught someone so horrendous but did not teach him what the punishment would be for having sex out of marriage. Because I do not give a damn about so called "legal reasons" that does not stop someone claiming whatever they want to claim to cover their own crimes but do not let people go and find the reality.

Keyplus, //did not teach him what the punishment would be for having sex out of marriage.//
The issue is not having sex outside marriage – it’s having sex with an underage girl – something that is illegal in this country.
Whether or not Islamic schools are teaching such things, all faith schools brainwash the young and should be disbanded.

If he was taught this , and I am far from certain it is not just an excuse, then the teachers should be put on trial and jailed.
I agree that even judges are scared to say or do anything that might offend Muslims, thia man should have been jailed.
I have worked in a prison and I can tell you that the % of Muslims in prison in the UK is far higher than the % in the general population , many jails have over 30% Muslims . I do not know why but it is a fact I have seen it with my own eyes.
