Shouldn't that have been "having FINALLY taken responsibility..."?

I suspect his wife was only too willing to take the points as if he lost his licence it would affect her lifestyle, I'm sure it happens all the time, I hope he only gets a suspended sentence, he's no threat to society and that's what prisons should be for.
