I hope that girls and women in the Arab countries will one day be awarded the same status in law as the men and boys are.
I also hope that one day they will realise that no amount of 'blood money' will excuse or atone for this type of horrific crime against a child.
If we all simply respond to what our neuron connections tell us, I'm unsure of the value of a word like "evil"; but I can understand wanting to apply it in cases such as this. Some societies need to work on their social framework of rules, and teach their offspring properly. I guess all societies need some work, but some who give light sentences for acts of pure revulsion seem to need more work than others.
1. The quality of being morally bad or wrong; wickedness.
2. That which causes harm, misfortune, or destruction
3. An evil force, power, or personification.
4. Something that is a cause or source of suffering, injury, or destruction:
It appears that ‘evil’ is the wrong word to use in this instance. It’s far too charitable.
I think that shows the inadequacy of dictionary definitons. "Wickedness" has the same problem as "evil", the defintion of right and wrong is a minefield in itself if you believe in predeterminism or that we may be under the illusion we are in control but are merely reacting to the result of our brain activity. Lots of things cause harm or suffering without being thought evil and defining a word in terms of itself is of questionable value. The society needs to sort itself out rather than label those who have "gone wrong".
people like that are turning me into the sort of person i do not wish to be, ie, full of hatred. they are so twisted they do not deserve to live. the world would be a better place without them.
Disgusting individual. Poor wee girl, murdered by the very person she should have been able to depend on to protect her. What the hell could a man be thinking to do that?
